the best chips for kids (& adults) !

I am in love with kale chips, especially as I am a salt chip fiend. However I would much rather munch on something healthier that is equally addicting once you take the first bite. My daughter also LOVES chips, like she will eat half a bag no problem.

I am delighted to say that she absolutely loves kale chips

What makes them taste so delicious? You can flavour them as you wish! I like adding nutritional yeast which makes them taste cheesy!! Extra fantastic for kids as it is high in B vitamins.

Kale is also a power house in the veggie world. It is packed with healthy calcium, vitamins, protein and has more iron than beef.

requires concentration...

yep. she even tried to lick the plate clean.
Kale chips can be quite expensive to buy, but they are surprisingly easy to make. There are many kale chip recipes out there, I chose my sister's at ReLove Plan.et because I knew my daughter already liked them.

The recipe calls for very simple ingredients, kale, olive oil, lemon juice, nutritional yeast, garlic powder, and salt. done. no additives. no preservatives. so much healthier for kids

warning!! addictive!!!
 ~ The recipe ~
2 or 3 heads of kale (I used lacinato)
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
3 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp sea salt (we use pink himalayan)
1 tsp garlic granules

~Method ~
1. Wash and zip kale. how do you zip kale?! grab the base of the stem and pull away the leafy part from the stem. Then break the leafy parts into bits.

 2. In a large bowl add the rest of the ingredients. Mix. Add the kale bits and toss until well coated.

3. There are two ways to make the chips, one is the oven method and the other is using the dehydrator (which is what we do)
Dehydrator:
spread evenly on sheets and dehydrate for 3-4 hours until crispy
Oven:
slow method:
preheat oven to 200 degree & spread kale evenly on a cooking sheet and bake for 2-3 hours.
quick method:
preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake for 10-15 mins until they are lightly browned.

Both the dehydrated and the slow oven method are best because they preserve the max nutrition in the kale chips due to being cooked at a lower temperature.

So there you go. They are amazing, healthy, and awesome for kids to snack on. Good luck trying to not eat the whole batch!!
